Get started

Learning how to use a computer and the Internet can feel a bit daunting. But there is help available to set you on the right path.

Where do I start?

A good starting point for complete beginners is this Guide to computer basics. Please take some time to review this guide and then keep it as a handy reference. There are plenty of resources available on this website to help you improve your computer skills.

If you are new to computers it’s best to find a good tutor to arrange some basic training. Check our directory of not for profit community education providers. Many of these providers offer basic computer training for free or at low cost in your local community.

If you are a bit more advanced, there are free online tutorials that will reinforce your computer skills – and take you even further. You can work through these modules at your own speed or with the guidance of a volunteer tutor. All the resources available on this site can be accessed at home or at a kiosk.

Everyday use

Once you have completed your basic training, you are welcome and encouraged to use the kiosk computers and the Internet for your everyday online needs.
